Vashty Hawkins - Acrylic and Encaustic Original Pop Art - made in Canada!

Welcome!

I live and work in Toronto, Canada, and my influences include (but are not limited to) Norval Morrisseau, Pauline Boty, Aubrey Beardsley, Andy Warhol, Mucha, Erte, Tamara de Lempicka, and more. While acrylic painting was my first love for the crisp lines and brilliant colours that this medium can achieve, I discovered the ancient art of encaustic painting over a decade ago. Abstract expressionism, pop art, art nouveau, collage, psychedelia, silent film, rock and roll, burlesque, and vintage imagery of all kinds factor into my work.

I also teach three-hour encaustic painting workshops for beginners - currently I offer these out of Yellow House Framing (921 Kingston Road, Toronto) from October through May - please contact me for more details
